Who we are

From our plant in Nolanville, Texas, American Rockwool manufactures a high-quality, granular mineral fiber insulation. Made from 60% slag, which is recycled from steel mills, and 40% trap rock that is mined locally, our Rockwool insulation is considered a premium product that is recognized for its superior sound absorption, fire protection and high R-value.

Our goal at American Rockwool is to provide our customers with a product that has stood the test of time and continues to out-perform other insulation products in today's market. We continue to explore new industries and use cases for this high-performance material and are aligned to meet future demands.

History

In 1984, American Rockwool began construction of its main plant in central Texas, approximately 60 miles north of Austin. Over the years, the company grew through various partnerships and ownership changes. In 1998, after joining forces with Thermafiber, the company expanded to operate five plants. The company then went through two more transitions, and finally reestablished to its current form as American Rockwool Manufacturing, LLC in 2016. Throughout these changes, the company has maintained its commitment to producing quality insulation products from its Texas facility.
